Crimea - Day 3

Day 3 saw another beautiful day of sunshine & we had picked up breakfast, (European sytle - salami, cheese and bread)  supplies the night before from this shop.

See Mishka, Masha and Cristina looking over their shoulders for cars!

The funny thing about this place is that the streets are really narrow and most of the corners are blind, you cant see what is coming around them The pedestrians and the cars share them. As I eluded to in the previous blog, the drivers seem to treat the streets as rally circuits. We had a couple of wild rides home in taxi's at night at full speed through the streets of southern Crimea and survived ! Im sure the VOLGA drivers would love these streets !

So breakky on the balcony watching the world go by on day 3.

Good bread Mishka?

I was busy watching the workmen working on the building downstairs. Some of them wore thongs, no hard hats and quite comical to watch the lack of safety standards! Cutting metal withno safety goggles !!

The troops gathered and again we hop on a mini bus to go to Alupkinsky Palace and gardens. We had all had enough of palaces & chose instead to stroll the gardens at a leisurley pace.

The beaut backdrop of
the mountains

Look Mum, I found a friend!
She was young (8 months) and
had probably just had a litter.
She was graetful of the attention
as much as I was to have a
cuddle

You can see the girls are really
animal lovers !

Tummy rub anyone?

OK, thats enough !
Who else can I talk to?

Mishka !

Time for a swim? No, too cold! Masha told me it was natural spring water so I had a taste. It was reshing.....
and crystal clear !

Meet Daddy swan....
....sleeping of course

And Mum swan....

... doing the housework

The Palace was designed by English Architects for the Enlish educated Count Miikhail Vorontsov. Vorontsov brought serfs from his estates all over Russia to build the palace and park in 1828-1846. Six marble lions flank the staircase framed against the backdrop of Mt Ay-Petri.

Hmm... looks like Mishka

Look Aussies!
A  Ukraine squirrel !
Cute...

Back down to the town centre where we catch up with Felipe, Paola and Felipe's mum for dinner.

No... thats not Felipe and Paola,
thats the locals having a
jig !

Mishka and Maska
moving to the beat !

Yet another friend.
This one I called Henry.
Very affectionate, but
just wanted food !

End of day 3 ! ..... and quite an adventure to get home from Yalta. If I have the energy in the next blog, I will write about it. Until then.......

Happy Mothers day to all the mums.... especially my mum
